Vintage Japanese Kakejiku Hanging Scroll, Shikoku Pilgrimage Stamps, with Box H80.1in/203cm

This hanging scroll is a "納経軸 nokyojiku" (hanging scroll) inscribed with 御朱印 goshuin stamps collected during a pilgrimage to the 88 sacred sites of 四国Shikoku.
The Shikoku 88 sacred sites pilgrimage is a pilgrimage route of approximately 1,200 to 1,400 km that visits 88 temples (sappho) in Tokushima, Kochi, Ehime, and Kagawa prefectures associated with 空海 Kukai (弘法大師 Kobo Daishi). Established in the Heian period, the "お遍路 ohenro" (pilgrimage), which involves walking or driving the entire route, has long been a popular form of training and prayer to expel worldly desires and fulfill wishes.

The scroll is bordered with luxurious fabric woven with golden floral patterns, giving it a luxurious feel. It comes in a wooden box and is in good condition.
