Set of 4 Japanese vintage metal furniture FUSUMA sliding door handles bird and flower openwork HIKITE 1930s H3.6in/H9.2cm.

The handle of this sliding door was made in the Taisho or early Showa period and has a cool atmosphere of age. The entire design resembles a flower, and the openwork-like design around it is elaborate and beautiful. The relief of the flower and bird in the center is also delicate and beautiful.
There is some rust and discoloration, but overall condition is good.
Some holes for nails have widened.
As each piece is handmade, there are subtle differences in color and shape. There is a small hole for fixing.
It is ready to use as a handle.

This product is a Japanese door handle called "fusuma. A fusuma is a sliding door with a wooden frame to which paper or cloth is pasted on both sides and a handle is attached. It is one of the fittings used to partition a Japanese-style room.

In Japanese, there is a word "partition".
It is a combination of the two meanings "shi" (to do) and "turau" (to match).
In Japan, the culture of "shitsuke" has been prevalent since the Heian period (794-1185).
For example, samurai warriors wore crested patterns on their houses.
In addition, there was a culture of expressing seasons, dignity, and messages through buildings such as fusuma (sliding doors). This item is also a product of that culture.
