This Antique Red Raku Matcha Bowl is a signed Japanese pottery tea ceremony chawan designed for enjoying traditional Sado tea. Crafted as a handmade matcha cup, this ceramic tea cup offers excellent winter heat retention thanks to its cylindrical tsutsu-nari shape. Measuring approximately 3.5 inches in height and 3.8 inches in width (about 9 cm × 9.6 cm) and weighing 12 ounces (341 grams), this red raku matcha bowl combines beauty and function to enhance your tea experience.

Made using the raku-yaki pottery technique, this antique Japanese pottery piece features a kanji signature on the back, authenticating its craftsmanship. The red hue comes from iron oxide clay applied before firing with a transparent glaze (Uwagusuri), creating a gentle color gradation that is elegant and timeless. The bowl is presented in a wooden box included for safe storage or gifting.

This tea bowl is part of the honored SENKE JISSHYOKU group, representing ten master craftsmen who contribute to the traditional Japanese tea ceremony culture. Its shape and material provide stability and warmth, ideal for colder seasons. The bowl’s handmade nature means no potter’s wheel was used; instead, skilled hands shaped it with care.
