This is a large basket woven from very precious mountain grapes. There are many bamboo baskets, but not many large baskets made of wild grapes.
It has been used by farmers in the Tohoku region for about 100 years. The black shiny color of age is very beautiful and cool. Originally, only a few wild grape vines can be harvested in a year, which makes it a rare material.
In addition, the number of materials and craftsmen are decreasing year by year, so that baskets made of wild grapes are rare and coveted in Japan today. Such large baskets made of wild grapes are rarely made nowadays.

Originally, baskets made of wild grapes were made as daily necessities for farming, housework, and mountain work. Its characteristics are its durability and beauty.
At first they are a lighter beige color, but the more they are used, the darker and shinier they become.

The prototype is believed to date back to the Jomon period, and many baskets have been excavated from ruins in the Tohoku region.
It is also wonderful that the parts used in the vertical and horizontal sections are different to make the weave look more beautiful.
