Raku Matcha Tea Bowl Handmade: Authentic Japanese Wabi Sabi Ceramic Art (Boxed, H2.4in)

This is a small, flat tea bowl (hirachawan), which is quite rare for Raku ware. It was likely crafted for outdoor tea ceremonies (nodate) or for personal travel. Flat bowls are mostly used in summer because their thin walls and wide open top help the hot tea cool down faster. While hand-shaping is typical for Raku ceramics, this bowl shows distinct finger marks from pressing the clay, and you can really feel the artisan's touch in the wavy rim. The surface also features an engraved poem, which, together with the scattered pinholes, creates a deeply poetic and rustic atmosphere.　

The poem reads,

"As the dawn moon sinks into the west and the night comes to a close, the mountains cast their shadows over the falling leaves."

• We accept returns within 7 days of delivery. For returns due to buyer’s remorse or personal reasons (e.g., changed your mind), the buyer is responsible for all round-trip shipping costs (original shipping + return shipping) and any applicable processing fees. The refund will be processed once the item is returned safely in its original condition.
