These are called 三春駒Miharu-koma. They are a local toy with a horse motif, and are unusual in that they are considerably larger than usual. The pair is very cute. This is a bold design and coloring that is not only Eastern but also Western. Called as "Miharukoma" which comes from a very old tale, 1000 years ago. In this tale, a general were struggling to push his army to the north. Suddenly wild horses appeared and help him to get over the situation. A general was pleased with the extraordinary power of these horses and named them "Miharukoma". In this region where wild horses lived, this toy was popular among children.
