This is a beautiful hand-painted plate made between the late Edo period and the Meiji period.
The beautiful pale blue and white colors unique to old items are elegant and beautiful. The rim is decorated with a continuous pattern, and the back is carefully painted with a checkered pattern.
This pottery is called “古伊万里 old-Imari” or “染付 some-mono.”
Imari ware is a type of pottery produced in Arita, Japan, where potters brought the technique from the Korean Peninsula, with production beginning around 1610.
This plate is used for Japanese kaiseki cuisine.
It is also recommended for sashimi and other dishes.
