Masaaki Tanaka Silkscreen Print, Horse Festival Japanese Pop Art (19.5"x13.2")

Set on a radiant gold field, the 19.5"x13.2" serigraph captures a Hana-uma Matsuri scene with Japanese Pop Art Print influence, where decorated horses and musicians move across Nagano streets in vivid color and manga-inspired line work. The hand-pulled paper print is signed, numbered 8/75, and includes a handwritten note identifying the festival and location. Masaaki Tanaka's pop sensibility and anime-like figures bring a modern graphic illustration feel to a centuries-old ceremonial event. Excellent condition with no noticeable stains, the limited edition work suits cultural home styling, gallery framing, and thoughtful gifting for collectors of Asian wall hanging art and display.

About the artwork

This serigraph presents the Flower Horse Festival (Hana-uma Matsuri) as a dynamic parade of costumed horses and musicians. The gold background heightens contrast and color saturation, creating a striking unique visual display suitable for both contemporary and traditional interiors. The handwritten annotation confirming Nagano and the festival gives the piece provenance linked to local cultural heritage.

Artist background

Masaaki Tanaka (born 1947, Tokyo) is the printmaker credited on the edition and signature. The listing notes his long career and recognizable pop sensibility that often evokes manga and anime aesthetics while depicting Japanese landscapes and festival scenes. The combination of traditional subject matter and a pop-influenced graphic approach positions the print for collectors of signed creative gift pieces and fans of Asian wall hanging art.

Display and care

Because the work is on paper, professional framing under UV-protective glass is recommended to preserve pigments and paper. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and high humidity. The print is ready for framing and display in living rooms, galleries, or study walls where modern graphic illustration and cultural home styling meet.
