LARGE Japanese vintage iron five-storied Pagoda Buddhist architecture Kyoto garden design, Japanese metal interior H31.1×7.9in/H79×20cm.
This is a 五重塔five-story pagoda made of cast iron. It is painted green.
A pagoda is a structure with five roofs stacked on top of each other. The top section can be removed.
Each of the five roofs means, from the bottom, 地earth (foundation), 水water (body), 火fire (kasa), 風wind (shinkan), and 空sky (hoshu). This means that each of them represents the five worlds and the Buddhist view of the universe. This idea of the 五大five worlds is an idea of Indian philosophy.
In Japan, many wooden five-story pagodas are still in existence. The oldest is in 法隆寺Horyuji Temple in 奈良Nara Prefecture, which is also a World Heritage Site.
The roof and railings of this pagoda have been well reproduced. It has a strong presence just by leaving it there. It is in good condition.

condition...
It is in good condition, but there are rust and dirt due to aging.
I list antiques that sometimes have chips, rubbings and cracks
as they are very old antiques so please check the images and understand the current
condition before buying.
