Japanese antique furniture Byobu wind screen of gold water ink painting of Horses, people, birds 1800s Edo H67.9×99.8in/H172.5x253cm.

This is a piece of furniture called a 屏風Byobu in Japan. It is a type of furniture used to partition and decorate a room. The structure consists of a wooden frame with several sheets of paper and other materials attached and folded together.
Believed to have been introduced from China, the folding screen has a long history and was already in existence as a tool to protect against the wind during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) in China.In Japan, by the Muromachi period (1336-1573 B.C.), many ink paintings and extremely colored screens were produced.

Just placing a folding screen can change the atmosphere of a space at once, and it is convenient because it can be folded for storage.
It is in good condition with no major damage and can be displayed and used immediately.

This is a combination of ink painting written in the Edo period on the gold inner surface. The gold part was probably repaired later than the Edo period.
The combination of old paintings and gold is cool.
If you look closely at the painting, you can see horses, sparrows, ducks, and a man with a fishing rod.
