Japanese Washi Table Lamp, Handmade Hinoki Andon LED Sensor 25 Cm

Layered hinoki and translucent washi give the Japanese Washi Table Lamp a soft, indirect glow that suits Japandi and minimalist interiors. Handmade in small batches by Japanese artisans, this cordless night glow combines traditional andon construction with modern LED sensor convenience for AUTO motion activation or a steady ON mode. The lightweight hinoki wood craft and paper shade lantern cast sculptural shadows while remaining safe and flame-free for homes with children or pets. Battery motion light operation and compact 25 cm height allow flexible placement in entryways, hallways, or beside beds, creating a calm interior accent with a subtle wabi-sabi aesthetic.

Design & craftsmanship

This handcrafted fixture follows the proportions and lattice lines of a traditional andon while using contemporary LED technology. The frame is assembled, separated, and reconstructed in layers to create a three-dimensional interior space; that layered construction lets the paper shade lantern diffuse light evenly and produce subtle, sculptural shadows. The combination of hinoki wood craft and translucent washi emphasizes natural grain, soft warmth, and the restrained Asian home decor sensibility that complements Japandi and minimalist schemes.

How it works

The unit is battery motion light ready: insert three AAA batteries (not included) to activate the LED. In AUTO mode, the ambient-light sensor prevents activation in daylight and triggers the motion sensor in low light, creating a practical sensor hallway beam for entryways and corridors. Switch to ON for a continuous soft ambient lighting option when a steady bedside or accent glow is preferred. Being cordless ensures flexible placement without trailing cords or permanent fixtures.

Recommended placement & styling

Place the lantern on a low console, bedside table, hallway shelf, or washroom ledge to create a relaxing bedroom aura or a calm interior accent near doorways. The compact 25 cm height and narrow footprint make it suitable for small surfaces and layered vignette styling. Pair with neutral linens, natural woods, and simple ceramics to maintain a cohesive wabi-sabi aesthetic and subtle Asian home decor statement.

Care & contents

The paper shade is delicate; avoid direct contact with water and handle the lantern gently when changing batteries. The LED is flame-free and designed for indoor ambient use only. Each piece is hand-assembled by artisans and produced in limited quantities—contact us in advance for multiple-unit orders. Contents: handcrafted lantern (as described) and user instructions; batteries are not included.
