Japanese vintage wooden gold statue of Gautama Buddha, hand carved old buddhism sculpture Sakyamuni釈迦如来 H10.1×W3.9in/H25.7×10.8cm.

He was the founder of Buddhism. A prince of the 釈迦如来 Sakyamuni tribe in ancient India, his real name was Gautama Siddhartha. He was a real person with a wife and children. “Shakyamuni Buddha” refers to the image of the enlightened Buddha.
The pose in which the Buddha holds his hands together is called a sign. Each form has its own meaning.
This image is called the 施無畏印 Se-Mu-i sign, which is a gesture to reassure people, which represents listening to people's wishes and granting their desires.

The back part, called the halo, is beautifully openworked. The halo is behind the Buddha image and represents the aura of light emanating from the Buddha's body.
