Japanese vintage vase "BIZEN ware" pottery flower vase, square tube shape with Kanji signed and wooden box For GIFT H7.4×3.3in/18.8x8.5cm.

This is a pottery made in Okayama prefecture called Bizen ware.
From the Kofun period (mid-3rd century to 7th century) to the Heian period (794 to 1185), there were scattered pottery kilns that were the origin of Bizen ware called Sue pottery. During the Kamakura period (1185 – 1333), the current brown pottery was burned. It is a firing method in which sufficient oxygen is added to the kiln, and the characteristic is that it is baked in a warm color. It is hard-baked without using glaze, and the natural beauty of the soil is beautiful. Another reason for its popularity is that the colors change in the kiln and no one is the same. It is said that the more you use it, the better the color will change without getting tired of it.

This vase has a simple triangular cylindrical shape, making it easy to arrange various types of flowers and plants.
The potter who created this piece is Shinichiro (1948–), whose name is inscribed on the box.
He is the second son of Bizen-yaki artist Nakamura Kikuzan. After studying under Fujiwara Ken, a designated intangible cultural property of Okayama Prefecture, he later studied under his uncle Nakamura Rokuro. He is a popular artist who has won numerous awards at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition and other events.
