This vase is called as "常滑 Tokoname" ware. It's made from a type of clay called “朱泥 shudei/ red clay” that is rich in iron and sourced from the Tokoname region of Aichi Prefecture. It is fired without glaze, a technique commonly used to make teapots.
It is carved with a very detailed relief of a landscape with a pine tree, mountain, waterfall, houses and crages. The title of this painting and craftsman's signature are carved on the back.
Stored in a dedicated wooden box, recommended as a gift.
