Japanese vintage stackable black lacquered wood round boxes with Kanji,"Kiridame" multi purpose 6 nesting boxes storage container L W12.9in.

This set of 6 lacquered boxes is called as "切溜Kiridame" meaning "cut and keep". The lid is one.
This is rare because of its round shape.
The outside is coated with black lacquer and the inside with red lacquer. The lacquer is peeling and the wood is cracking with age, but it is ready to use.
There is a Chinese character mark on the outside.
The name "Taisho 3 (1954)" is written on the back.
It has a very cool atmosphere just by putting it on the table.

Kiridame was mainly used in a kitchen to stock foods. Some were kept in the shelf and others were used on the table or in the sink during cooking. They were also used like tote box among neighbors to carry food when a party was held. Thus Kiridame generally had brands of owner's name to distinguish to whom which belongs. The lid and the side of the box are also marked with branding.

It is in good condition, but there are scratches and dirt due to aging. The lacquer is peeling and the wood is cracking with age, but it is ready to use.
