This is a pottery bell. It is also cute and unique and recommended as a Christmas ornament or New Year figurine.
In Japan, they are called earthen bells and have been loved for a long time.
It is an item painted on unglazed pottery that has been made since the Edo period (1603-1868) as a local toy, a charm against evil, or a good omen. Local toys in Japan are also traditional crafts of the region. Many of them use local products and are modeled after objects associated with religious beliefs or local animals.
This is an old toy made in Aomori, also known as Shimokawara-yaki.
This motif is a fox. The character-like atmosphere is adorable.
The fox is thought to be a mischievous animal that tricks people, or conversely, it is believed to be a divine messenger of the gods enshrined in shrines.
