Japanese vintage Mizusashi jar with lid ceramic, kiln craft For Tea ceremony with Kanji signature Box H8.5 / 21.5cm
This is one of the tools of the tea ceremony and is called a 水指mizusashi. It is a vessel used to add water to the tea kettle and to store water for washing tea bowls and tea whisks.
Like tea bowls, there are various types of mizusashi, and you can enjoy changing the item you use from time to time depending on the tea bowl, the season, and your taste.
This mizusashi has a characteristic shape which is modeled from a bunch of brushwood tied up with a vine. Mizusashi is likely to have stout or heavy impression in tea room, but this tall and bright color jar with a narrow waist looks much lighter. A twig on a lid is also cute.
One of seven rules in Chadou says "cool in summer, warm in winter". It is about preparation and presentation for guests invited. A larger kettle is put in a hearth with more charcoal as guests feel warm in winter. Adding a host should make them feel warm visually. It may be a hanging scroll or paintings on tea utensils. This mizusashi is one of them and reminds guests of a fire place.
□ Size: H8.5in × W5.9 in (about H21.5cm×W15cm )
□ Weight : 42.2oz (1200g)
□ Material : ceramic, wood, lacquer ※The cloth is not included.
condition...
It is in a good condition, ready to use. There is a slight chipping on the lid as shown in a picture.
