Japanese vintage "Daruma" doll pottery statue all white abstract ornament, ceramic savings box Buddhist monk priest ZEN master,H4.7in/H12cm.

達磨 Daruma is a Buddhist monk who brought Buddhism from India to China. He is also known as a “Zen master.”
This is a plain white unglazed Daruma doll. Originally, this doll was intended to be painted red or other colors, but it remained in its original form as dead stock. However, unlike a new doll, it has fine scratches and stains on its surface due to the passage of time, which gives it a unique atmosphere.
It was crafted to mimic Daruma's “坐禅 zazen” (seated meditation) posture.
“Zazen” refers to the practice of sitting with crossed legs, maintaining proper posture, and unifying the mind in a sustained meditative state.

As it is a piggy bank, there is a hole at the top. However, it is designed such that the contents cannot be removed without breaking it.
