Japanese vintage caster's knife 釿 CHONA adze carpenter tool with sign, Carpenter's Axe, MINGEI hand made wood tool 1930s H24.8in/H63cm.

This is a carpenter's tool called a 釿 CHONA caster's knife. Since ancient times, various traditional tools have been used in Japanese wooden construction.
The tool has been used since the Stone Age to shave the surface of wood.
Wood that has been hulled (surface processed) with these tools has a unique flavor. The technique of leaving these cutting marks is called "Naguri," and has been used in Japanese architecture for centuries.
The blade is engraved with a signature in kanji characters.
It looks cool on the wall.
