This is a handmade wooden fish. A mokyogi is a wooden drum, used in Buddhism to keep rhythm during sutra reading.
The most common design is in the shape of a fish or pair of fish (dragons).
In Buddhism the fish, which never sleeps, symbolizes wakefulness. A signature in Kanji characters is engraved
There are scratches and stains over time, but no major damage. The silk cushions are in very good condition.
It is ready to use with a set of a wooden stick and a cushion.
