In Japan, the sound of a bell has long been believed to invoke and purify the gods. In this sense, the bell is an important tool for connecting with the gods in Japan.
At many shrines, a large copper bell hangs in the center of the worship hall, and a hemp rope, red and white, and five-color cloth are hung with the bell, which visitors wave to ring the bell. This is a kind of prayer signal.
This is a very old and beautiful bell. It was made around the Meiji era. The copper has turned deep black with age and is very cool. It is carefully made and in good condition.
