Japanese vintage art sculpture Handmade wood carving Gold Phoenixes and Clouds From buddhist temple Architectural Parts W35.2in/89.5cm.

This is a precise openwork carving of three 鳳凰 phoenixes flying in the clouds. The entire piece is painted in gold, giving it an elegant atmosphere.
The clouds are also wonderfully represented in a rather three-dimensional manner. Phoenixes are incarnations of gods and legendary birds believed in China and Asia.
It is believed to appear in times of peaceful and virtuous personalities who bring peace to their nations.
This is part of the decoration originally used on Buddhist altars in temples.
