Japanese vintage art of birds Wagtail, Copper Pheasant and Kanji calligraphy poem, block printing with flame, wall deco picture H16.3×W21.1in.

These are woodblock prints documenting a variety of birds in the manner of an illustrated book.
Other works by the same artist are also listed.
This is one of a collection of works by 喜多川歌川Utamaro Kitagawa, one of Japan's leading 浮世絵ukiyo-e artists of the 1700s.
The name of the collection is 百千鳥狂歌絵Momochidori Kyokaawase, which means "a collection of works" in Japanese.
Many of them are owned by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This is a woodcut reproduction of it by an old Japanese publisher.
It is all a combination of detailed drawings of birds and uniquely Japanese poetry called 狂歌Kyoka-awase.
Kyoka is directly translated as crazy poetry.
While 和歌waka poems are intended to be graceful, the appeal of 狂歌kyoka poetry is that it reads freely with comedy and social satire.
The charm of this work is the painting. The delicate colors and the feathery textures are wonderfully rendered.
Other works by the same artist are also listed.
These are Wagtail and Copper Pheasant . In Japanese, they are called 鶺鴒SEKIREI and 山鳥YAMADORI.
These are the mountain birds and a bird called wagtail, which are perched majestically on top of the rocks.
On the top are Japanese poems written by the artist about the Wagtail and Copper Pheasant, respectively.
Both poems are about love.

Copper Pheasant's poem says,
The voice that says "holoho" without the mountain bird is also sad
For many nights have passed and you have not shown yourselves

Wagtail's poem says,
The night I see you, the pain in my chest subsides, but
I still have a hard time with the world.

The frames and stones are ready to be displayed.
The frame is made of wood and glass.
