Japanese URUSHI lacquer Large tray OBON black gold Family crest beautiful wooden tableware Tea ceremony SAMURAI 17.9×13in/45.5×33cm
This is a tray made of wood and black lacquer. This lacquer is called as "越前塗 Echizen nuri", which was one of the biggest lacquer crafts in Japan. Echizen is an old name for Fukui prefecture along Japan sea.
The size is large and the condition is beautiful, almost unused. It is ready for use.
The family crest is painted in gold in the center. The owner's name is written in gold on the back.
This is the family crest called "雪持笹 Yukimochi sasa" , which means bamboo leaves with snow on their top. This design was conceived as a reference to the strong spirit of the bamboo grass, which endures the snowfall with its limp and shriveled leaves, and then rises again with the melting of the snow.

It is in very good condition, but there are small scratches and dirt due to aging.
