For the country where 70% of its land is occupied with forests, blades for trees had made progress to meet various demands. This is a "Yabukogi nata", a type of machete specifically designed for bushwhacking in Japan's temperate forests. Given that most forest floors in Japan are covered in dense undergrowth, this tool is essential for clearing paths. Its 6.4-inch blade, designed to be relatively heavy, allows for effortless cutting of bamboo grass and other vegetation. It is also used to cut off small branches as well. The handle is ergonomically shaped to fit four fingers comfortably. The blade bears the inscription "利五郎 Toshigoro", the hallmark of a blacksmith from Niigata. The machete comes with a wooden case covered in synthetic leather. While there is some surface rust on the blade as seen in the photo, there are no chips or other damage, indicating that it is ready for immediate use."
