This is a pottery bell. It is also cute and unique and recommended as a Christmas ornament or New Year figurine.
In Japan, they are called earthen bells and have been loved for a long time.
It is an item painted on unglazed pottery that has been made since the Edo period (1603-1868) as a local toy, a charm against evil, or a good omen. Local toys in Japan are also traditional crafts of the region. Many of them use local products and are modeled after objects associated with religious beliefs or local animals.

This is based on an ogre motif. This is a bell to ward off evil spirits at 白山 Shiroyama Shrine in Noto, Ishikawa Prefecture. The shrine was built in the Muromachi period (1336-1573), and the building is a national important cultural property. This clay bell has a cool atmosphere of aging. The face of the demon is slightly squashed into a square shape. The color is also light blue or green with faint red. It is a rare item. On the back, it is written "白山神社 Shiroyama Shrine 厄除鈴 Yaku-yoke Bell.
