Japanese old "SUISEKI", scholars stone, indoor viewing stone, block shaped, with a hand carved pedestal Power stone H3.9xW6.3in/10x16cm

"Suiseki" is a Japanese culture or hobby of viewing stones indoors.
This culture came from China in the 12th century, and getting popular among noble and samurai society.
They preferred and collected stones which resembles mountain and made a small landscape scenery in a tray filled with water. It has something in common with "bonsai" and "suiseki" are also displayed in "tokonoma", an alcove in a traditional Japanese room where art pieces are displayed.

While suiseki (Japanese appreciation stones) are popularly shaped to resemble mountains or colossal boulders, this particular stone, at first glance, appears to be a monumental rock formation, perhaps an ideal spot for a Zen monk to meditate on its summit. However, upon closer inspection, its top shows signs of weathering, as if its edges were peeled back and crushed by an immense force. It truly resembles a stone tool from the Stone Age, crafted and worn down by a primitive human to crack open nut shells. It's impossible to know now how it came to be this shape, or if it's an actual artifact reimagined as a suiseki. Yet, holding it, it undeniably fits comfortably in the hand.

The pedestal was carved to fit exactly the bottom of the stone.
