Japanese old antique Large box farmer's old bamboo backpack with Kanji KAGO basket hand craft, 1858s H13.4in×W13.4in/H34×W34cm.
These baskets were used by farmers to carry harvested vegetables and other items.
It was designed for durability, practicality, and beauty as a craft.
The basket is made of split and woven bamboo, protected by a bent bamboo pole, and the bottom and back are covered with thicker woven bamboo. The slightly raised bottom also prevents the basket from getting wet on the ground.
It is marked 安政五 Ansei 5 (1858s) in black ink on the inside.

It is in good condition, but there are scratches and dirt due to aging. There is a small crack on the corner and edge of the basket. Overall, it is in good condition and ready to use.
