This is a box used in temples since the early Edo period to receive monetary offerings, and is called a銭箱 Zeni-bako.
The aged wood has a very cool atmosphere and presence.
The color has turned black, and the surface has a unique smoothness that makes it melt in your mouth.
It is in very good condition, and those with a key are very rare.
It is possible to open it with a key to open part of the upper part. Both the wood and the metal fittings are very old and atmospheric.
