Japanese copperr tea caddy with signed, leaf canister with double lids, hand hammered , metal handcraft H4.8×3.5in/H12.2×9cm

The body of this tea caddy is made from a single sheet of copper.
The hammer marks are beautiful.  It is engraved with “pure copper” on the bottom.
This item is a tea caddy sold separately, not as part of a set.
After cutting the initial sheet to the appropriate size, the bottom is hammered in and the edges are raised.
This is the first step before shaping with a hammer. 

Annealing softens the copper. Since copper hardens as it is processed, this process is repeated as necessary to create the final shape.  
The final shape is formed by repeatedly hammering and annealing.  

After the initial sinking process, the craftsman uses different anvil stakes to raise the edges further and fold the outer edges inward to form the container shape.  

The entire surface is hammered with a mirror-finish hammer to remove irregularities and defects and add texture.

It is in very good condition, but there are small scratches and dirt due to aging.
There is some discoloration on the inside. There are small etching marks on the overlapping part of the lid.
