This Japanese cast iron kettle, known as a Chagama, is a finely crafted tea ceremony kettle designed to enhance your traditional tea experience. The Maru-gama tea pot features a rounded form favored by Rikyu and is ideal for use with a furo brazier, making it a perfect small cast iron kettle for summer tea preparation. Crafted from durable cast iron with a copper plum blossom lid, this handmade Japanese kettle offers precise heat retention and even boiling, resulting in perfectly brewed tea every time.

Measuring approximately 7.3 inches high by 7.5 inches wide and 6.3 inches deep (18.5cm × 19cm × 16cm), and weighing 2200 grams (77.4oz), this rustic iron teapot balances portability with functionality. The copper lid’s delicate plum blossom handle adds elegance while the signed wooden box authenticates its origin as a Yamagata cast iron piece by Keiten Takahashi, a Living National Treasure renowned for his mastery in traditional Japanese ironware.

This traditional tea kettle is smaller than typical models designed for furo braziers, allowing water to be boiled efficiently with less charcoal, making it an excellent summer tea kettle choice. Despite its vintage condition, including minor rust and stains typical of antique ironware, the kettle has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected to ensure usability without compromising its historic charm.
