This incense burner is in the traditional 九谷 Kutani ware style. On top is a lion, which is thought to be a legendary creature. The entire incense burner is beautifully hand-painted with flowers, birds, and patterns. The lid has a lattice-like design.
This is a type of Kutani ware known as Akae. It originated from the Akae saibyo style, which was perfected in the late Edo period, and this piece was made in the Showa era, inheriting that technique.

It is characterized by intricate depictions using vivid red and gold, and is an item that gives off an elegant and glamorous impression.
