FINE! Japanese antique porcelain plate indigo Blue hand painting of Mt.Fuji and birds Authentic platter big dish Sometsuke 古伊万里 Old IMARI KOIMARI edo 1800s 11.4in/29cm.
This is a very elegant and beautiful large dish made in the mid-Edo period. Since it is an old Imari ware item, it is called "古伊万里焼Ko-Imari ware" and is very popular.
This plate is richly decorated with a technique called 墨弾きsumi-hajiri, which was often used in the Edo period.
Sumi-Hajiri" is a technique of white removal often used in the Edo period. The procedure is to first draw a pattern in sumi ink and then paint over it with sumi-hajime. This technique utilizes the glue component of sumi ink. It is a more time-consuming and labor-intensive process than "Some-tsuke".
It is characterized by a unique light and airy atmosphere, giving a gentle impression and is very beautiful. The designs from the middle of the early Edo period have a generous composition with blank spaces.
Fuji, the clouds in the foreground, and a bird perched on a tree. The edge of the plate is decorated with a leaf-like pattern.

condition...
It is in very good condition. The brown spots are common on old pottery and are marks made during the firing process.
I list antiques that sometimes have chips, rubbings and cracks
as they are very old antiques so please check the images and understand the current
condition before buying.
