Japanese antique pair of long tail birds made of bronze and wood burl stand, "BONKEI", with signature, 1900s H10.4in×W13.8in×D7.9in
A set of a pair of bronze birds and a rock shaped wood burl. "盆景" bonkei, including bonsai and suiseki, landscape on a tray has been one of popular hobby and interior home decoration for a long time in Japan. Thought this set is thought to include other bronze made objects such as tree branch or leaves on which birds perch, they perch on a real wood burl. This combination with other materials goes well eventually as a burl looks like a smooth rock in a river. Birds are called as "Onaga, Azure-winged Magpie" and have a carved craftsman's signature "堂安 Doan" on the bottom. Birds can be removed.

condition... It is in good condition, but there are small scratches and peeled-off, minor cracks on a wood burl as shown in pictures.
