This Japanese antique jar serves as a striking interior accent that complements the "Japandi" aesthetic. While it harmonizes beautifully with contemporary decor, it is actually a piece of Shigaraki ware dating back to the transition from the late Edo to the Meiji period. Known by the nickname *sudare* (bamboo blind), this style originated from a technique in which colorful glazes were poured over the vessel—either in precise, evenly spaced lines or with a more free-flowing, rustic touch.

Its blue-and-white color scheme is somewhat rare, and the rhythmic application of the glaze creates a truly beautiful effect.

The white areas possess remarkable depth; upon closer inspection, one can discern subtle hints of gray and blue rather than a flat, uniform white.

It blends seamlessly into Western-style interiors, adding a unique and distinctive touch to the space.

It is in very good condition, but there are small scratches and dirt due to aging. There are areas—such as near the rim—where the glaze application was light during firing, but this is part of the charm and unique character of this vintage item. Please refer to the photos.
