An unique bell shaped as a standing eggplant. Among a lot of vegetables, eggplant has been regarded as a symbol of good luck. In Japanese old saying there are three auspicious things one could dream of on their first dream of the new year. They are Fujiyama, a hawk and an eggplant. All of them have been loved by the Japanese and familiar with their custom and tradition. It also has long been thought to have the meaning of purifying to call on God by ringing a bell.
Yet an eggplant shaped bell is not popular actually. Someone might ask craftsman to make or an craftsman might make it on a whim. Though the background is not clear, the bell has a very stable form, and over time it has acquired a calm patina. The eggplant standing on top of it looks so adorable.
