Japanese antique art hanging scroll paint, MAIKO kimono woman retreating figure with sign, Kakejiku with BOX 1950s H73.6×10.2in/H187×26cm

This scroll has an ink brush painting of "maiko" , an apprentice geisha,  by Japanese painter Yuasa Sogetsu (1878 - 1927). He was born in Tokushima prefecture and studied Japanese painting by engaging with artists of various schools in Osaka and Kyoto in his twenties. This painting, though simple, showcases his talent for bold and unwavering brushwork, revealing his mastery across all themes: figures, flowers and birds, and landscapes. The mounting of this hanging scroll is also superb, with its narrow and elongated composition seemingly offering a glimpse into the feelings of a young Maiko about to step out into the wide world. The use of silk fabric, harmonizing with the painting's color scheme, also creates a very calm impression despite the use of gold, making it suitable for display in any location.

It is in good condition, but there are dirt due to aging. There are some age-related deterioration such as folds, but there is no major damage and it can be displayed immediately.
