Japanese antique 1925s IMARI set of 5 bowls with lids porcelain kiln ceramic craft t Indigo Blue White OWAN INABAN Sometsuke H3.7in/H4.3cm.
These are bowls with lids, set of 5. The year is Taisho 14 and is written on the box. The bowls are made using a combination of the hand-printing technique of the time, called inban, and some hand-painting on top of the hand-printing. Unlike today's mass production, each bowl has its own unique characteristics, such as misalignment and distortion. This gives the bowls a unique and interesting character. The written text shows the names of the restaurants of the time. Since the character “Aoyama” is present, it seems to have been used by a restaurant located in present-day Aoyama, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. A pine tree growing over the cliff is also printed.
There are no chips and they are ready to use. It is recommended for serving tea or food such as soup.
