In Japan, they are called raccoon dogs. This type of sake bottle has been made since the Edo period, but the older types have a more subdued color and a different face.
At the time, tokkuri with a design of a raccoon dog holding sake were sold as souvenirs. The raccoon dog's face is exquisite and cute. The color and luster of Bizen ware over time are also beautiful.
The raccoon dog has a hole in its head.
