Green tea bowl Japanese vintage shallow CHAWAN 萩焼HAGI kiln ware handmade Matcha Cup Tea Ceremony pottery with box signature H2.4×6.1in
This is called 萩焼Hagi ware. The characteristic of this pottery is that it changes so much that it is called 七化Nanabake. The clay of Hagi ware is characterized by its rough grains, which do not tighten well when fired in a kiln. Therefore, there are many fine crevices that are difficult to see from the outside, and tea and sake soak into these crevices and the more they are used, the more the color changes. The gradation of soft orange-beige is beautiful.
The tea bowl is shallow and is typically used during the summer months. There is a kanji stamp of the potter, "Hayashi Koyo" around the bottom.
It comes in an original wooden box and is recommended as a gift.
