Fine serving bowl for sweet, Japanese vintage "SHINO" ware handmade pottery dish for tea Ceremony with Wood box signature H2.2xW7.9in
This work is called 志野Shino Tea Bowl and is said to be the most Japanese pottery.
It is called " 鼠志野 Nezumi-Shino" and has a beautiful, elegant gray glaze. The surface has beautiful cracks in the glaze and is painted with botankcal pictures.
This pottery, called Shino, is a type of Mino ware with a white glaze that was fired in the Azuchi-Momoyama period of the 1500s in what is now Gifu Prefecture. There are several types of Shino, including Akashino and Shino, and some techniques have been designated as Important Intangible Cultural Properties.
This is designed for tea rooms where the guests take the sweets served in the dish one by one in order before tea. This confirms that everyone is equal within the tea room by sharing the same food.
