FINE! RARE! Japanese vintage Noh doll Koomote mask mask woman samurai "巴” made of wood and silk KIMONO for Gift H9.8×5.1in/H25×13cm

This 能 Noh puppet of a female samurai wearing a female Noh mask is beautifully crafted. The kimono and other costumes are also beautiful, and the hands are delicately made.
It expresses both the bravery of a woman in battle and her sorrow.  
This is one of a series of puppets created based on the theme of Noh, a traditional Japanese performing art. Other puppets by the same artist are also listed.
This puppet is based on a performance called 巴 Tomoe.
This woman is the ghost of a female warrior who fought in the Genpei War, depicted in a story about her being memorialized.  
The underlying philosophy of Noh, that the souls of those who died in war are saved by the power of Buddha, is depicted here.  
It stands independently on a square wooden base, but the brown tray below is not included.
