FINE! Joseon Dynasty Japanese antique Bronze statue censer Koro 獅子 shishi lion with wooden box, animal Incense burner 1800s H8.3in/H21cm.

This is a copper incense burner made during the 李朝 Yi Dynasty (1392-1910) on the Korean peninsula. The color of the copper due to aging is cool. This is called “old copper” and is popular and expensive in Japan.
What makes it unique is this adorable face. The characteristic of items made in the Yi Dynasty is that they make people feel at home.
Many of these items, mainly tea bowls, made their way to Japan, but there are also many attractive pieces of furniture, paintings, and metal works.
A simple beauty common to human beings. It is not flamboyant, but has a sense of stability and delicacy of form. Incense burners of this type are rare and precious. The copper is thick and the tail and other parts are delicate. The face is just lovely. It makes you smile.
There is a hole in the mouth so that smoke can come out from here.
It comes in a wooden box, making it ideal as a gift.
The head can be removed.

In Japan, lions have been very important as spiritual beasts to ward off evil. Lions are also said to be the guardian deities of Buddha and are often seen in temples and shrines.
