Vintage Wajima Rikyu Natsume Matcha Tea Caddy, all black Tea ceremony, Box

In tea ceremony, a host entertains guests with a lot of items carefully chosen.  There are three items which are superior to others and a host brings to tea rooms at last before making tea. They are "茶碗 chawan" ,tea bowl, ”薄器 usuki", tea container and "茶杓 chasyaku", tea spoon.

In the tea ceremony, the master of the tea house entertains his guests with carefully selected articles. There are three sacred objects that the master brings into the tea room for the last time before preparing the tea. They are the tea bowl, the thin bowl, and the tea scoop.

This is a basic Rikyu-style natsume. It is slightly larger and popular as it is the style favored by Rikyu.
It does not have any maki-e or other patterns, but that is what makes it so cool. The lacquer was made by the second generation of Kaga lacquer artist Sensai. He has been active as a lacquer artist since the Edo period, and the second generation worked in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture.
It comes in its original wooden box and is in excellent condition. It matches any tea bowl and does not get in the way. A simple and beautiful natsume that you will want to own.

In the tea ceremony, we enjoy changing utensils according to the season, and while we recommend using them at the end of summer and in autumn, you are not restricted to this, but can enjoy them according to your own taste.
