"暖簾Noren” or ”御簾misu.” This item is sold as a single piece. The rim is calm brown with a repeating design featuring circular crest-like symbols in beige, fully made of silk. The tassel is shiny brown with an antique gold hook.
The screen is made of thinly split bamboo and other materials woven side by side with thread, and are used to divide a room or block out the sun.
The bamboo is very delicate, and the use of silk fabric for the edging adds strength and luxury.
They are very expensive and are made entirely by hand. In Japan, it has been commonly used in aristocratic residences and temples since ancient times.
It is often used in summer because it moderately blocks light.
It has a hook attached to its strong surface, which is rolled up and hung, and then secured in an upright position.
The metal fittings of these hooks are also decorated with beautiful arabesque patterns.
Silk tassels are also attached for an elegant look.
There is some discoloration on some of the hardware, but it is not a concern.
It is in good condition yet there are frayed threads at both bottom edges of the rim, and one weaving thread near the center of the screen, which holds the split bamboo, is broken as shown in pictures.
