FINE! Japanese antique 1790s hanging scroll KAKEJIKU "horses, willow tree" ink painting by 矢野良勝 signed with box, EDO art H69.7in/H177cm.

This ink painting on paper is wonderful. It depicts a horse standing under a willow tree. The horse's rear view is powerfully yet delicately expressed with limited lines, and the shades of color are also beautiful.
This painting was created by 矢野良勝 Ryoushou Yano (1760-1821), who was active in the Yano school of painting in Osaka from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period. His father, Yano Ryukei, is regarded as the founder of the Yano school. Just as his father blended the styles of Matsumura Goshun and Yosa Buson, Ryoshou also created works that combined realistic depictions with the elegance and poetic sensibility of literati painting. His works are characterized by a warm and gentle brushstroke.

Painted on paper, decorated with silk clothes and scroll end made of wood and lacquer. The light blue silk is woven with golden threads depicting water birds, creating an elegant and beautiful design.

This is called 掛け軸KAKEJIKU a hanging scroll.
In Japan, masters store various types of hanging scrolls. And he hangs a drawing scroll which represents the season and calligraphy scrolls which implies his feelings or message to his guests.
Another good point is that it can be rolled up and stored compactly.
