Fine green tea bowl Japanese antique CHAWAN "SHINO" ware handmade Matcha Tea Cup Tea Ceremony ceramic with Wood box signature W4.5in/11.5cm.

It is called 志野Shino tea bowl and is said to be the most Japanese pottery.
This rather large tea bowl has a sturdy presence. The surface has beautiful cracks in the glaze, and the naturally changing expression is wonderful.
This Shino ware is a type of Shino ware called 赤志野Akashino. The base is coated with iron mud and then fired with a feldspar glaze to give it a light red color and a warm, soft feel.

This pottery, called Shino, is a type of Mino ware with a white glaze that was fired in the Azuchi-Momoyama period of the 1500s in what is now Gifu Prefecture. There are several types of Shino, including Akashino and Shino, and some techniques have been designated as Important Intangible Cultural Properties.
