FINE! BIG! 1900s Antique Wooden Fish drum gong"mokugyo" from Buddhist temple stick set, red gold lacquer Chanting Musical Drum 16.1in/46cm.

This is a very large wooden fish drum called 木魚Mokugyo used in buddhist temples. This size is very rare, and even more rare today, as large trees in such good condition are disappearing.
It is very heavy and has a wonderful presence just by being placed.
It has a carved Kanji character and is painted in lacquer and gold.
The sound is good and powerful, and it has a cool atmosphere.
It can be used immediately because it comes with a special large stick. Sticks have been replaced along the way and are relatively clean.
Mokgokko wooden fish drum, is a bell-shaped drum carved from a single piece of wood and used by monks for meditation and other ceremonies.
The most common design is in the shape of a fish or a pair of fish (dragons).
In Buddhism, a fish that never sleeps symbolizes awakening.
