Antique Bronze FUSUMA Door Handle, Swallow with Weeping Willow

This item is a Japanese door handle called FUSUMA. FUSUMA is a frame made of wood or the like with paper or cloth on both sides and a handle attached to it. It is one of the fittings used to partition the Japanese-style room.

There is a word SHITURAU in Japanese language.
This meaning is a combination of the two meanings of SHI (Doing) and TURAU (matching).
In Japan, the culture of SHITURAU space has permeated people since the Heian period.
For example, the samurai attached a crest-shaped handle to his house.
Besides that, there was a culture that sometimes expressed the season, dignity, message, etc. with buildings such as FUSUMA. This item is also a product of that culture.

The design features a swallow fluttering around weeping willows, and this combination is a classic Japanese motif representing the arrival of spring and a sense of refined elegance. The outer rim is adorned with a design of drifting clouds and chrysanthemum flowers.

Beautifully aged. There are a small nail holes for fixing. The back of the plate is partially discolored.
There are some scratches dents as shown in pictures.
