FINE!! Japanese antique 1700s Samurai armor 鎧 Yoroi torso red lacquer urushi with Gold family crest stand set original Japan historical Edo.

This is actually the body part of an armor that is thought to have been used at the end of the Warring States Period. Basically, lower-ranked samurai were not allowed to have their family crests on their armor.
The armor torso 胴 DOU was made by joining thin pieces of iron and coating them with linen or lacquer. After the Muromachi period, this type of armor began to be produced to reduce weight and to accommodate weapons such as guns.
The lower folds, called 草摺 kusazuri, are made of leather or cloth coated with lacquer. Smaller parts are made to fit together using braided cords made of cotton or linen. The cord is also woven in a pattern of arrow feathers, making it very beautiful.
The family crest in the center is the crest used by 松永久秀 Hisahide Matsunaga, a general in the Warring States period. It is called 菱に蔦 hishi ni tsuta (ivy on a water chestnut). Because of its aesthetic significance and lush nature, it came to be used as a family crest to wish for prosperity, and was especially loved by the samurai family.
The red and gold colors that have dulled with age are very cool and have a strong presence. A rare example in such good condition is highly recommended. It comes with a stand, so it can be displayed and enjoyed immediately.

This is in very good condition for a very old item. However, there are some discoloration and scratches from age, and the lacquer on the front side is peeling. Some of the lacquer is peeling off easily, but overall this is a very well-preserved item. It can be displayed immediately.
